UGAB TERRACE LODGE

The Ugab Terrace Lodge is situated on a plateau and offers never-ending views across the vast plains of the Damaraland region in Namibia. The vicinity boasts such natural wonders as the famous Vingerklip, the Brandberg Mountains, the Petrified Forest and Twyfelfontein.

Make the Ugab Terrace Lodge your base from where you can explore this part of Namibia’s unique beauty.

Guests are accommodated in 10 private bungalows, all en suite and with a private verandah overlooking the breathtaking landscape of the Ugab Terraces.  The Ugab Terrace Lodge also offers 8 luxury tents, all on platforms and all en suite.

Much attention has been paid to the interior decorating, so that it reflects the colours and mood of the Damaraland landscape. Two of the bungalows are wheelchair friendly.

Swimming pools are a usual part of a guest lodge, but the swimming pool at the Ugab Terrace Lodge is something quite out of the ordinary. Carved out of the mountain rock, you have an unspoilt view which seems to go on forever.

The cuisine at the Ugab Terrace Lodge is likely to excite even the most jaded of palates and the chefs really go out of their way to spoil guests with gourmet meals. They use plenty of fresh ingredients and the Lodge’s herb garden provide a signature touch.

Sundowners and Namibian sunsets go together and the lounge at the Ugab Terrace Lodge is no exception. If it is chilly (this part of Damaraland can get chilly in winter), make yourself at home in front of the roaring log fire. Horse lovers can explore the surroundings on horseback, while the Ugab Terrace Lodge also caters for mountain bikers. Those preferring a more leisurely activity can do bird watching or hike along one of the many trails.  

NAMIBIA

Perhaps you would like to consider another lodge in the Damaraland or Kaokoland. The Vingerlip Lodge is our direct neigbour and you will most likely only consider them if we are fully booked. To the west is Twyfelfontein Country Lodge. They are near the Petrified Forest and at some of the best preserved rock painting in Namibia. To the north of Twyfelfontein, and deeper into Damaraland and Kaokoland, is the famous Palmwag. Here you can do game drives and your chances to see the desert elephant or rhino are good.

From Damaraland you can travel along the Skeleton Coast to Swakopmund, Namibia's best known coastal resort. Spend at least two nights in The Stiltz lodge on poles in the Swakop River. This is a beautiful lodge and not your average type of accommodation. From Swakopmund you will head south-east to the Fish River Canyon, the worlds second largest canyon. Accommodation in Canon Lodge is in luxury rock rooms.

BOTSWANA

Perhaps you would like to visit Botswana after your stay at Ugab Terrace Lodge. You will need to travel through the Caprivi and then enter Botswana at the Chobe Game Reserve in the north-east of the country. At Chobe National Park near Kasane lies Chobe Safari Lodge with luxurious accommodation at affordable rates. Spent at least two nights at Chobe before you drive south to the Makgadigadi Pans. Planet Baobab is near Gweta and they offer beautiful accommodation and activities on the pans. Your Next destination will be Island Safari Lodge on the southern edge of the Okavango Delta.

If you decided to visit Gaborone after your stay at Ugab Terrace Lodge you must allow two days for the driving. In Gaborone you can choose between The Big Five Lodge just outside the CBD or Mokolodi Nature Reserve 12 km south of Gaborone.

ZIMABAWE

Harare is the capital city of Zimbabwe and at least three days from Ugab Terrace Lodge, if you decided to visit Harare the Harare Cresta Lodge is five kilometers from the CBD. The Jameson Hotel is a sister hotel of Cresta Lodge and it is even more central. You can walk to all the major buildings of the city from this hotel.

SOUTH AFRICA

Ugab Terrace Lodge recommends the following accommodation in South Africa. The King David Hotel is a five star hotel in the city of East London in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Sangiro Lodge near Bloemfontein offers accommodation in wooden cabins near the Shell Ultra City on a small game reserve.
